  1. I 'm excited and love Linux. A huge Linux community helps newbees how to use Linux the right way. Why shoudln't I also give back my experiences to the Linux community? I got help fomr the community when I started to use Linux. Now it's my task to provide help forLinux newbees.
  2. For example to help them to configure their local network and how to get internet connectivity. In general  it's not that difficult - except you use special WLAN network cards. But very often the same basic config errors are done. I try to detect these common erros with my script collectNWData and to provide help how to fix the configuration errors. If that doesn't help the information collected helps other people in the Linux community to get valuable networking information and to help to isolate and fix the networking problems.
  3. Next to get experience with joomla. I like to learn new things at any time.
  4. And last but not least - to document any experiences I make with my lokal network any my local Linux systems for me and indeed also for the Linux community. It's in particular important for for steps not executed every day.

Initially the script collectNWData was not localized and created only German messages because it evolved in a German Linux community. Later on English messages were created whenever somebody with a non German locale called the script. Now it's downloaded from a lot of different countries all over the world.

It would be nice for the international users of the script if they get the messages in their native language. It doesn't take more than 1.5 hours to translate all the script messages for a native speaker (Confirmed by brunomcl and lijews who created the Portuguese and Polish translations). There is no programming experience required. Pls contact me or create a comment on this page and provide your eMail address which is visible only by me if you're interested to translate the messages into your native language. Please download the messages from here and translate them right now. Everybody familiar with Linux gettext and it's tools to create translation files should download this po file . The file contains instructions how to update the file and send it back so your language can be added to the script by me. But please post a commenton this page that you're working to translate the messages into your language and nobody else doesn't start in parallel with the same langage. Then it's my job to include your messages in the script.

Following people created localized messages for the script:

 Czech   Eliza
 French  Laurent
 Portuguese  brunomcl
 Polish lijews

Everybody is welcome to provide message translations. Don't hesitate to send an eMail to nls at linux-tips-and-tricks dot de if you have any questions.

Hope you detect the welcome phrase in your native language. If not just post a comment and I'll add it Smile

It's unfortunately too time consuming for me to translate all German pages into English in my spare time and it's even more effort to translate them in other languages Cry.  I will create every new page in German and English from now on. All the previously created pages will also be translated into Engish - step by step.

German and English are combined in one page. Just look for the eyecatcher English: on these pages to get to the section written in English.

Following pages may of primary interest for you:
  1. Pages related to collectNWData , a script which helps to detect and fix network configuration problems on Linux.
  1. If you want to help to localize the script collectNWData for your native language pls goto this page .
  2. Linux sample configuration files and Linux script collection. Script configs are commented in English only.
  3. This link will present you a list of all pages on this website which I already translated into English.

Don't hesitate to post comments in English in my guestbook. I'm open for any comments and will get back to you if you leave your eMail address which is only visible by me.

If you can read German just click her to go to my welcome page in German.
